The powerful Indian community in the US is up in arms about Senator Barack Obama's blunder in targeting Hilary Clinton by shooting at her Indian connections. In what can only be described as poor judgement on the part of a Presidential Candidate, Ombama's dirty tricks department has failed to understand that five years after the last election India has moved ahead at a rapid pace. This means that its importance to U.S. business is vastly different -- by pursuing a ridiculous anti-India line Barack not only stands to lose support from the rich Indian community but also from big American business which would not want to rile India.
Interestingly, Obama seems to have shot himself in the foot, thrice over. He shows poor judgement, seems in danger of antagonising an important and friendly nation and exposes the fact that doesn't matter the nice guy image, he is willing to play as nasty and dirty as any guy in the race to become the most powerful man in the world. The Indian community has already voiced its anger. United States India Political Action Committee (USINPAC) Chairman Sanjay Puri has written to Obama protesting about his presidential campaign staff has been promoting hurtful stereotypes against the Indian American community.
Puri says, "As representatives of the Indian American community, we have been encouraged by your message of inclusion and your promise to bring a new kind of politics to our country. This is why we are so concerned about media reports indicating your staff may be engaging in the worst kind of anti Indian American stereotyping." .
