Natural gas production to double in four months

October 30, 2009

India’s gas production will almost double in the next four months due to production from the Kaveri Godavari (KG) basin. As per the director general of hydrocarbons—comments accessed by energylineindia—gas production will increase from 39 cubic metres per day (mmscmd) in October 2009 to 75 mmscmd in February 2010. In the next four months, production will increase to 50 mmscmd in November, 60 mmscmd in December, 70 mmscmd in January 2010 and 75 mmscmd in February 2010. During the same period, the number of wells will increase from 12 to 17 in the KG basin. By March 2012, production is likely to reach 82 mmscmd and number of wells will increase to 18 and capacity utilisation will increase to 100% during that time. The well belongs to Reliance Industries Ltd in D-1, D-3 and MA discoveries in KG basin block.
